How to pay a virtual assistant?

When you work with agencies, it’s their problem how they pay their virtual assistants. But if not, or better, to get an idea how to pay them, here is an overview.

Foremost, most importantly, you never pay in advance. You always pay after the work is done, or you pay by agreement.

Sometimes you give a virtual assistant a task, which will take at least several months to finish. In those cases, you pay the person a part of the fee. In most of those cases, you work with a fixed salary or fee.

When you need to pay your virtual assistants, you only use a widely recognized payment method.

You can use PayPal, Wise or Payoneer.

PayPal has a problem, that it takes the initiative to suspend accounts of account holders when they want to ask you a question. This can happen any time when you use their services. Especially when you pay many different VAs, PayPal might get suspicious and suspends your account, because it suspects you to be a ‘criminal’ or ‘performing fraud’.

Wise is great, cheaper than PayPal, it supports up to 49 countries (It does support India and the Philippines though). That might be a problem.

Payoneer is also great, it supports over 200 countries and 150 different currencies. But Payoneer payments take up to 3 weeks to get credited depending on the payment mode.
